Fae
Fae are prideful beings and tend to look down upon other races in many ways, there are only certain races which will get respect from a fae on a first encounter. One way is to be older than the fae itself, but even then can be give or take. There are no sithins or mounds within Ebon Ridge, those fae who are here are those who are exploring the world or have been exiled/banished.
The courts: Seelie and Unseelie
As Humans because to place more control on the Earth, the magic and especially the Fae slowly receded from view. The realms of the fairies became less visible to the human eye and resided in the border regions. Fae tend to be more prevalent during 'border' times such as dawn and twilight, the time before night and day and the border seasons such as Spring and fall. They are also more powerful during these times depending which court they are in.
Seelie Court (Summer court) is traditionally based on the fae of the light. The Fae of the Seelie court are well know to look for help from humans, assist or warn those who have offended them accidentally and to return kindness to human kind when it is due. Yet fae are traditionally prideful beings and are know to avenge insults and also know to mischievous as are there nature. Seelies are also know to be pranksters and having fun loving attitudes. They sometimes will forget that these pranks can affect their human counter parts both positively and negatively but don't always seem aware of the sorrows they can inflict with their pranks.
Stronger during; Dawn and Spring seasons
Unseelie Court (Winter court) tends to gather the dark-inclined fae. These Fae are quick to bring down their pranks and attacks without previous insult or aggression. There pranks/attacks tend to me more harmful to those they are inflicting such as attacking each other or causing harm. Not all those fae within the Unseelie court follow these ways but most tend to lean easily towards being cruel tricksters. Yet they can form bonds with humans if the respect has been earned by the human but the Unseelie still tend to treat them with less respect than their fellow fae. These fae tend to consider themselves the higher race of fae and will present themselves in such a manner.
Stronger during: Fall and Twilight hours
Fae Magi
Fae are old, prideful beings and it is well known not to say thank you to these beings unless you wish to get them angered and create a vendetta against you. They will sometimes create an oath after giving them thanks and ask for the favor to be repaid at a later time.
Fae just like other magical creatures will tend to grow in strength and powers as they age, but they do not ever become all powerful beings. Though magic flows through the more freely due to their magical nature they will still suffer from magical sickness if it is overused.
Fae are also elemental by nature and will be bound to one in particular, there is no light or dark magics within fae as this is not an element. A fae can be weakened by their opposing element even sometimes being in the presence of the other can cause sickness. There are some fae which are attuned to certain magics as their particular race.
Below is a list of Fae elemental magics
- Spiritual: These fae tend to be quieter, gentler individuals to help calm those around them. This type of magic tends to give the user the ability to Dream walk and have a sense of others spiritual needs and desires. They are well aware of people's emotional state and will tend to use this to their advantage.
- Fire: These fae tend to run hot, shorter tempers and firey personalities. They hold control over the flame and depending on their age can light a candle to start and feed a wild fire. They know many people are fearful of fire and will tend to show it off more readily to get their way
- Earth: These fae tend to be physically stronger than others, they tend to have an upfront and honest personality. Though these fae seems to come across honest they are still pranksters, they love to use their natural abilities to trip people up with a route or make it rain leaves.
- Water: These fae tend to be two faced, one moment they can be calm and gentle but then the next can turn into a rage. The fae of the water element can be easily angered as well as calmed if a person knows them well enough. They hold great power over the sea, lakes and streams and will use the fear of drowning to sometimes get there way.
- Air: Fae of the air tend to be lighthearted but also hard to understand their motives. They are flighty individuals and do not always bond well with others. These fae tend to love to be tricksters in every sense of the word, using their magics to make people's hats run away to the more powerful calling upon tornados to ravage a person who has insulted them.
General Information
Age: Secretive of their aging, some believe as old or older than dragons *3000yrs
Not All fae can glamor, but they can make a deal (As Fae are all about deals) to have a charm recharged weekly (Witch or another fae) to help them glamor their appearance. Glamor hides a Fae's appearance it does not make items disappear. So if a Fae has hooves for feet, they always have hoovess but can glamor, making them look like they wear sneakers and have normal feet/legs.
General Weaknesses
All Fae are 'allergic' or will suffer being near or around Cold Iron and even Lead (can be bound)

General Strengths:
All Fae are generally stronger than humans, depending on age

All Fae heal x2 times faster than humans
Fae youth
Age: Birth till 350yrs
Basic Strengths: Slightly stronger than humans, basic magi skills for their element. Can glamor for several hours at a time.
Basic Weakness: Iron, opposing element and suffer some magi sickness as they are still learning
Youthful Fae can only cast magic in small radius of themselves (10 meters), they tend to be simple spells which cannot last long. For example, using fire to light a candle or using a small gust of wind to knock of someone's hat... They will tend to feel the effects of magic with a slight headache or tire if they push themselves
Fae Advanced
Age: 350yrs till 850yrs
Basic Strengths: About x1 stronger than a human, magi skills are more attuned and focused. They can easily glamor for 24 hours.
Basic Weakness: Iron, opposing elements and suffer magi sickness as they grow stronger
Advanced Fae can create more complex spells, they can also cast simpler spells without much drain. The larger more complex spells will cause exhaustion and headaches (magi sickness) if over used.
Fae Elder
Age: 850yrs -> death
Basic Strengths: about 1.5 stronger than a human. Magi skills are well focused. They can glamor easily for a few days.
Basic Weakness: Iron, opposing elements and longer they are glamored, they will feel magi sickness as well as larger spells will cause the same.
An elder Fae can create longer term spells, using multi levels as well as work with other fae to create these spells. They can cast simple spells and advanced spells with some to no drain.
Species of the Fae
Phouka: Tend to lean towards spiritual Magics, but can be elemental. They are well known as mischief makers and pranksters, if an opputonuity presents themselves they will do it. Phouka though also have been known to help or hinder man kind.
A Phouka can take 1-2 forms, One is normally attuned to an animal and their other forms will tend to show parts of it (ears, tail etc.)
Red caps: Tend to be the rough and tumble of the fae kind. They never tend to get past Advanced level with their magic and CANNOT glamor themselves. They are well known for making deals with other fae, magi or witches to have an item made to help them glamor themselves. They are well known to protect other fae or establishments.
Hell hounds: Are not demons, yet they tend to be twisted and at times reduced to an almost animalistic behavior. They tend to have two forms, one is more dog like while the other can walk on two legs. They can glamor but not for long periods and tend to go for a more dog like form. They tend to be inclined to corrupt and taint those they encounter. These fae tend to have a faint scent of sulfer as it implies that their spirit is rotting away.. THe stronger the scent, the stronger they have lived or been tainted.
Sluagh are an old world court, they are dark prince/princesses and treated as a step down from sidhe, some are part sidhe. They are more prone to darkness and nightmares. These fae tend to be solitary and plan their dark ways from behind the shadows.
Trolls: Gruff creatures that prefer their own kind. They tend to stay in the mountain ranges and forests at all times and dislike engaging with humans or any other fae. Some are more wild like while others can hold a decent conversation. They are more willing to flee then get into a fight depending on the species.
Merfolk: While the Mer are a subspecies of the Fae, they do not exist in Ebon Ridge as it is a small town in rural British Columbia, Canada, in the Rocky Mountains. There is no Sea around. Merfolk will not be allowed in RP.
Wait, you don't have Sidhe? - Yes and No. We consider every Fae who hasn't chosen one of the sub-species listed above to be a Sidhe. Sidhe are the beautiful ones, a text explaining more about them will be added.
Note: Please keep in mind that when applying for a Fae, we will not accept Fae older than 2000 years at the time of application. Fae, even if they have wings in their true form, will also only have very limited flight abilities. That means about 5 minutes of flight, which is very exhausting to them. It is also on a lengthy cooldown.
